Adbhar Sakti: Ashtabhuji Maa Kali And Shiv Temple

The village of Adbhar, located in the Sakti district of Chhattisgarh, has recently been recognized. This village is steeped in mysteries, with numerous stories circulating among its residents. Today, we will delve into some of these intriguing tales.

It is said that there used to be an "Ardhasomya" eight gates here, known as "Ashtadwar," which over time became famous as "Adbhar." At the center of the town stands a historic temple, the Ashtabhuji Mata Temple, where we find evidence of the past.

Ancient relics, including copper plates, provide insights into the Pandav dynasty. Four Sanskrit texts reflect the region's intellectual and social roles.

The crowd is particularly noticeable during the Navratri festival. Devotees come here with their wishes, and the temple is especially adorned at night. Surrounding the temple are ancient remnants of heavy red stone, intricately carved with beautiful designs.

Inside the temple's sanctum is a statue of the eight-armed goddess facing south, crafted from granite called Ashtabhuji Maa Kali. To her right, there is a statue of the divine guru. This temple is unique because it is the only one in Chhattisgarh with a goddess statue facing south.

The carvings on the pillars provide a glimpse into the craftsmanship and artistry of the time. The stone displays intricate artworks, which were created using traditional tools.

Near the temple entrance is a structure resembling a mandap, where Lord Nataraja and his vehicle, Nandi, are seated. The base of this mandap is also made from red spherical stone and is supported by pillars made of the same material. Remarkably, these pillars have no visible joints, which adds to their uniqueness.
